  2. Pray for Helena (Vincent & Florence’s mum), she is unwell. There will be a brain operation on the 29/12. Please pray that our Lord’s healing hand be upon her. Ask God to give all the medical professionals wisdom and accurate judgment. Ask for a big enough faith for Francis, Vincent and Florence that they may trust God in everything.
  3. Continue to pray for the preparation of our Chinese New Year Neigbourhood Party:
    • Pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to regenerate the hearts of our neighbours.
    • Ask God to raise up our brothers and sisters to serve with a humble and servant heart.
    • Pray for a love for the people among ourselves; so that when people come to us, they may see the love of Christ.
  4. Pray for ESM 2012: Simple & Missional (Making Disciples):
    • Ask God to give Pastor Vincent and all the leaders wisdom & guidance in keeping ESM simple and missional.
    • As the goal of ESM 2012 is “making disciples,” please pray for teach-able hearts among the leaders; that we shall all submit to the authority of the Bible. May the Holy Spirit works in our hearts that we are not just learning more about Jesus, but we are getting more like Jesus. As this is the definition of being a disciple of Jesus.
    • As the Great Comission (Matt 28:18-20) teaches us — that as we go, make disciples of all nations. Ask the Holy Spirit to make us not only a teach-able students of the Scripture, but also able teachers of the Scripture; that we may not only teach with our mouth, we may also teach with our deeds.
    • In the new year coming, 5 more young people are coming to ESM. Pray that we will make them feel welcome; pray for the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit; pray for the power of the gospel. Most importantly, ask God for wisdom, guidance and love that we may serve them well with the gospel.
      • Please continue to pray for Geoff and all the other missionaries. Please scroll down for more details.

Pray for Jessie and her family (15/12/2011)

Quietly and peacfully, the Lord has taken Fanny home this morning (15/12). We praise God that he is the God of life. Job says, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21) We thank God for the fact that we are all touched by Fanny’s life and her strong faith in Christ.

We pray for Fanny’s husband Dong, and we pray for her daughters. At this extremely difficult moment, we pray that our hearts will join together in the love of Christ. We pray that we will support each others in actions. We pray that we will respect our emotions and allow sufficient time and space for our grief. We pray that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will be exalted and glorified in our words and deeds.

As we mourn for the lost of our dear sister, let’s not forget that Fanny is now free from all pain, illness and sufferings. She is given a glorious body (Phil 3:20-21). She is now in an eternal dewling place together with Jesus (John 14:1-7). And all our brothes and sisters in Christ will meet her again someday.

Let’s celebrate the life of our dear sister with our tears; a life which was gracious and faithful to the end. Just as Paul says in 2 Tim 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Update on Jessie’s mum (as per Christine’s email on 10 Dec 2011)

Please continue to pray for Fanny.  She is still in hospital being treated for her bowel obstruction.  She can eat better today but still cannot open bowel normally. God has sent her very helpful medical and allied health staff.  She will be referred to community palliative care team where I work when she is discharged from St George.
Please pray for God’s grace and mercy for Dong, Jessie, Lesley, Grace and Bonnie during this very stressful and tough time.   Pray that they would be given strength, comfort and faith in Christ and would bond together closely by love to support each other.

  • Praise God for who he is. Thank him for his love, mercy, kindness, and righteousness.

(2) Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven:

  • Pray for ESM’s future: SIMPLE & MISSIONAL. Pray for unity in the Spirit. Ask God for wisdom and guidance in our planning for next year’s calendar. May the fire of the Spirit burns in our heart that we may lead ESM into God’s will and truth.
  • Pray that ESM may produce more fruits, especially more disciples of Jesus; more friends and family members coming to know Jesus.
  • Pray for Geoff’s mission trip to Japan. May the Lord protect and guide him. Give him a big heart to love the people, give him the tongue to speak the gospel, give him wisdom to discern the spirits, give him knowledge to present the gospel in a culturally appropriate way.
  • Pray for Andy’s Bible study group at his workplace; pray that the Holy Spirit will add to the number of those who would believe in Jesus.
  • Pray for Brian Birtles (Andy’s friend) who is now on mission in Japan.
  • Pray for Simon and Jo Nagel. Remember their ministry at New College (UNSW), ask God for strength and continued energy and love in the reaching out non-believing students.

(3) Give us today our daily bread:

  • Ask God for more resources to witness his gospel.

(4) Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors:

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to search our hearts; illuminate the deepest and darkest area. Ask God for his forgiveness of our sins. Ask the Holy Spirit for strength to repent, especially for habitual sins.. Forgive one another; especially those who have offended you.

(5) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one:

  • Ask God for a pure heart. Pray that we wouldn’t come to face temptation; but when we face temptation, pray that the Holy Spirit would show us a way out. Pray that all our lives are holy and pleasing in the eyes of God.
