  1. “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city…” (Jeremiah 29:7) We are not in exile, but what the prophet said then is still applicable today. Channel Nine news said that it was one of the “worst crime weeks.” 10 were shot in just 5 days in NSW is very concerning. Pray for the leaders of this country that they may have wisdom to deal with these problems. Pray for the police force that they may have peace and safety in their job. Pray for those who live in this city that the love, peace and mercy of our Lord is our ultimate refuge, that we can always find peace in God.

  1. It has been a heavy week:
    (a) Please remember the survivors of earthquakes in China and Iran. (i) A magnitude-7 earthquake jolted China’s Sichuan province. Official death toll was 2, but state media warning the casualty toll could climb sharply. (ii) Iran was hit by two major earthquakes in days. Official death toll was 250. Pray that God’s love and mercy could be revealed in these natural disasters. Pray for Christians and churches serving in these locations would be able to share God’s love and care to the victims.
    (b) Please pray for the physically and spiritually wounded people in Boston Marathon Bombing. Remember the families of those who were killed. Satan comes to kill 4 (including the bomber) and wounded many. It seeks to terrorise many.
Pray that the love of God will prevail over fear. Pray that the Bostonians and people of this world will find hope and peace again in Jesus Christ. Pray that we shall all fear God, not evil; we shall continue to run the race.
While we pray for Bostonians, please remember that there were more bombings in Iraq and Somalia, which killed many more people, yet neglected by the media.
    (c) 14 were killed and some 60 people are still unaccounted for after the fertiliser plant blast in West, Texas.
We don’t have much answer for all these tragedies, but pray that our faith will be refined, our hearts and mind will be renewed by trusting and obeying Jesus every day.
